Brian Hulsebus
Secretary
Brian Hulsebus was born in Chicago, Illinois, and raised in suburban Franklin Park. Brian attended DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, earning a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and biological sciences in 1998. While not in class or the lab, he was a DJ at the local college radio station, WGRE in Greencastle, volunteered at Head Start, and was an active member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. Brian pursued graduate studies in biological chemistry at the University of Michigan, completing a master’s degree in 2001. Brian moved back to Illinois and worked in various roles at Thermo Fisher Scientific for over 15 years, primarily in Rockford. While at Thermo Fisher, Brian earned an MBA in 2014 from Rockford University and a master’s degree in industrial and systems engineering in 2018 from Northern Illinois University. He served as a Regional Event Supervisor with Science Olympiad, which fosters students’ intellectual curiosity and practical problem-solving efforts in STEM-related team competitions.
Brian married his wife, Jessica (Jessie), in 2018. Brian and Jessie, with their two dogs, Sadie and Gracie, moved out to central Massachusetts in 2020, settling down in North Brookfield. During their stay in Massachusetts, Brian and Jessie became parents to Lucy when she was born at UMass Memorial Hospital in Worcester. Over the next five years, Brian worked to support continuous improvement efforts at Abcam and Takeda Pharmaceuticals. He worked briefly at Sanofi as a consultant with Oxford Global Resources.
Brian, Jessie, and Lucy moved to Hornell when Brian got a Senior Process Systems Engineering position at HP Hood LLC, based in Arkport. The family attends United Presbyterian Church in Hornell, and Brian and Jessie sing in the choir. Unfortunately, Gracie passed away in early 2026. In Gracie’s honor, Brian, Jessie, and Lucy have volunteered at the Hornell Area Humane Society, a no-kill shelter, to support their goal of finding animals their perfect loving home. Lucy started attending St. Ann’s Academy in October, soon after arriving in Hornell. Brian joined St. Ann’s Academy’s Board in May. He looks forward to supporting its vision of a quality education—affordable to all families in the area who want their children to receive a faith-based education that provides a sound emotional and spiritual foundation for life.
